Subprime Meltdown: Is Your Pleasant Suburb The Next Slum?

Is the sub-prime meltdown just part of a larger more fundamental shift in the way Americans are choosing to live? Brookings Institute fellow and new urbanist cheerleader Chris Leinberger certainly seems to think so

[And so forth about how suburbs without any kind of livable — and preferably walkable — center are pretty much tailor-made for decay and blight once the economy goes south. If nothing else, walkable urban centers don’t impose isolation and huge running costs.]

The only difference is that I want my bleeping perfect bubble house already.
