Newsflash: water is wet

BBC NEWS | UK | Education | Spoilt children ‘disrupt schools’

Primary schoolchildren spoilt by their parents can cause disruption in the classroom by repeating manipulative behaviour used at home, a report says.

The rest of the article seems focused on advancing the “daycare is bad” agenda, which is particularly stupid in this context. If parents are teaching their kids that disruptive behavior will get them things they want, then good daycare will be a counterbalance to the lousy lessons at home. More time with parents who teach their kids to throw tantrums will just mean more tantrums. I suppose that if the parents in question had the education and emotional resources to teach their kids properly — and the pile of extra money required for one of them to stay home — you could make an argument for home care instead of daycare, but this isn’t it.
